Nadhabba is a traditional drive to Dussehra Gajapayan
Gajapayan, the first cultural program of the world-renowned Nadahabba Dussehra festival, got off to a grand, traditional start today.
Gajapayan starts from Veeranahosahalli, Nagarhole, Mysore. Cooperation and Mysore District In-charge Minister S.T. Somashekhar and Forest Minister Umesh Katti gave the drive.
The 9 elephant team led by Abhimanyu, participating in the grand festival, was started by the dignitaries by garlanding flowers between 9.01 am to 9.35 am on Shubhalag.
Before the flower arrangement, the Gajapade was traditionally crowned. After the priests performed the puja, they were sent by lorry to Aranya Bhavan in Mysore. On this occasion, Puja Kunita, Dollu Kunita, Nagari, Chandi Mela cultural programs were arranged.
The elephants will arrive directly from the forest at Aranya Bhavan in Ashokapuram, Mysore and will enter the palace on August 10.
